Having your own car gives you complete freedom to experience Hakuba at your own pace. Drive yourself to Happo, Iwatake, Goryu, or any resort in the valley without waiting for buses or shuttles. Sleep in on powder days, chase the best snow conditions, or head out early for first lifts — the schedule is entirely yours.
On rest days, explore beyond the slopes. Visit the famous snow monkeys in Jigokudani, browse local supermarkets and specialty stores, discover hidden cafés, soak in an onsen, or take a scenic drive through the Japanese Alps. What license and paperwork do I need?
Unless you have a Japanese licence, an International Driving Permit (IDP), a valid driver’s licence, and your passport are required.
How old do I have to be?
All drivers must be at least 21 years old.
Can other people drive the car?
Yes, but they must also provide the same licence and required documentation.
Are the cars 4WD/AWD?
Yep, all our cars are 4WD or AWD and equipped with studless winter tyres.
Can I take my skis and boards in the car?
All our vehicles come equipped with ski/snowboard racks.
Where do we pick up and drop off the car?
Right at your accommodation. The car will be ready at your front door with a full tank of fuel.
What insurance is included and what is the excess?
Comprehensive insurance is included with an excess of ¥100,000.
Can I rent a car without accommodation?
Yes, however our guests receive priority when booking cars alongside their accommodation.
